Memories

We got up early this morning and drove up to Lac L'achigan in Quebec. This was our divisional camp when I was growing up. I went to Music camp and Sunday School camp here and I worked there for 3 summers. I have a lot of good memories of this place. It was great to be able to see it again. I think the last time I was there was 13 years ago when Rob and I were dating. The first thing I noticed was how small it was. I used to think that the walk from the cabins to the dining hall was a long walk...it really isn't. I guess things feel bigger when you are smaller!!
The other great part of the day was seeing Sue and Nick Titcombe (and thier little girl, Darcy...who is adorable). It has been a really long time since we saw them. I went to camp with Nick when I was yonger and Rob went to camp with Sue...weird eh? It was great catching up with them and seeing thier daughter. We spent a lot of time at the beach. Rob decided to bury the kids in the sand. That is Darcy sitting on Emily in the first 2 pictures.

weekend

I am so glad that the weekend is here. I found last week to be a really long week. I really need a holiday but I still have two weeks to go!! Hopfeully it will go faster then this week. At least I have dinner to look forward to tonight. We are going to Lone Star with Peter and Loretta and the kids. I LOVE Lone Star.
Tomorow we are driving up to Lac Lachigan to see some friends that we have not seen for a really long time. This is the camp that I went to growing up and where I worked for a few summers. Those were great summers!!. I can't wait to see the place...I have so many good memories of camp!! I am also excited to see Sue and Nick and thier little girl, Darcy. I don't think I have seen either Sue or Nick since our National days. It has been a really long time. It will be fun to catch up.
Anyway...I hope you have a really good weekend too!

Nothing New

Not much is going on these days so I don't have much to post. Here are thoughts I ah today:

*Emily is still trying to catch up on her sleep. She just woke up at 9:15 this morning.
*It was 45 here with the heat yesturday.
*the kids opened an account at the green bank (TD Canada Trust) yesturday. We closed thier account at the red bank (Scotiabank). We are still bitter towards that bank.
*I found out last week that I will not be losing Olivia from my daycare. I was very happy.
*only 13 more work days and then I am on holidays. I can't wait!!!
*We are enjoying the show Rock Star: Supernova. There are some real freaks on it this year!!
*I am also enjoying Big Brother: All Stars.
*Noah has turned into a real monkey and will climb and pole he sees..even lamp posts.
*We had a big storm last night..it knocked over all my sunflowers that I am growing in my garden. I grew them from seeds. I have been waiting all summer for them to bloom. They are up to my waist already. Hopefully they will still flower. I put sTicks in the ground and tied them to it so they will stay up straight. They will be burgundy flowers if they bloom.
*I love my garden
*I want a bigger back yard so I can have a vegetable garden.
*I am so glad that we have central air!!
*I have 17 plants inside my house. Do you think that is too many?
*This is the third week in a row that Rob has biked to and from work. It takes him an average of 60 minutes each way. Sometimes longer if it windy. He looks great!!
I might have more later.

She's home

We drove to camp again today and picked up Emily. The final program was at 11:00 am. We arrived early but not early enough for Emily apparently. She was waiting by the parking lot...she was afraid we forgot what time it started. The program went realy well. It was a really hot day...it got up to 42 with the humidity I think. Emily was exhausted. She was sitting in the choir and sang really well but when they were not singing, she looked like she would fall asleep at any moment. She fell asleep in the van on the way home. She NEVER sleeps in the van...even if we travel into the night. She also really needed a shower. But she said she had a great time and will go back next year for sure. Noah will be old enough next year as well. Rob and I are going to try and take one week of holidays and go on faculty next year.
I am just glad she is home. It was nice to tuck her in (after scrubbing her down) and have prayers together. I really missed her while she was gone.

She is doing well

Rob and I took the day off yesturday and made the trip down to camp for the mid-week program. We traveled with Glenn and Dana again...with the boys this time. The trip went well....just some rain. Thankfully the rain stopped just as we got to camp so we were able to walk around without getting wet. We went to the girls cabin and found the girls. They apparently forgot we were coming so the were surprised to see us...and very excited. I was very happy to see Emily. Then I saw the state of her bed and suitcase. All her dirty clothes were in with her clean clothes. Her wet towels and bathing suits were in the bottom of her locker with more clothes. We got all that sorted out...put the dirty clothes away and hung up her wet stuff...(made me feel better). I then took her into the bathroom and washed her face and made her brush her teeth. I wanted to scrub her down in the shower, but I held myself back!!
The program went well. Emily decided to sing instead of playher instrument this year. The chorus sounded great. She did a great job.
We stayed and hung out with her for awhile after. She showed us where she did theory etc. We left around 9:00 pm. They were going for snack then and then thier cabin was having a party. From what we figure, they are going to bed around 11:00 every night. Emily might sleep all next week!!
Anyway...I was very happy to see her!!

More Hockey trades

Well the Senators are doing some more changes. We lost Martin Havlat and Bryan Smolinski today. I am quite bummed. I really liked Havlat. Even though he was hurt for most of the year...when he came back he was awesome. We could always count on him for a good goal when needed!!
I am happy with losing Hasek and getting Gerber. I think that will be great for our team! It will make Emery play all the better just to keep up with Gerber...so we will have 2 great goalies! And I am not sad about Chara either. Boston can have him!!

Music Camp

Emily leaves for Music Camp tomorrow. I am sad about her leaving but I am so happy for her too. I loved music camp and I know she will have a great time. Please pray for her and her friend Baylie (in picture) that they have a great time and please pray for me...it is hard to send away your child for the first time!! I will post pictures and updates on how she is doing throughout the week.

Camping

We went camping over the long weekend and had a great time. We arrived on Saturday moring...we were both too tired to go and set up Friday night. The kids enjoyed a great sunny day going swimming and playing. Saturday evening was good up until the rain started. It started drizzling around 9:00 pm. Then the storm hit...HARD!! It is different being in a storm in a tent rather then your house. You feel like the lightning could hit you at any moment. If that wasn't bad enough, Rob started to get dripped on...so did Noah (Noah slept through the whole thing). I was pretty close to packing the kids into the van and driving home!! Rob convinced me to stay...but I was pretty grumpy about it. We tried to go to sleep when we heard something coming from the tent beside us. I won't go into to much detail...let's just say there were 2 couples in there and they were "having a good time"!!!!!. Finally ALL the noise stopped including the rain and we got some sleep.
Sunday and Monday were perfect weather wise. The kids spent most of thier time in the water. Both of them got burnt on thier faces (they hate swimming with sunscreen on thier face because it goes in thier eyes) but they had lots of fun.
Saturday night was no better for sleep but we were dry. The same people beside us decided to have a fire and talk until all hours of the night. The last time I looked at my watch it was 2:30 am and they were still going strong. They were not using very nice language and Emily woke up at one point. I think she went back to sleep so I hope she didn't hear too much. One of the guys who had had been drinking decided to leave and go home...the girl tried to tell him to stay but he left anyway. I had visions of him driving right through my tent!!

Anyway...a good weekend was had by all. Camping is not my favorite thing to do but I did have fun. Rob and the kids love it so I try to as well!!
I hope you had a great long weekend!
