Noah's birthday

This was Noah at his party on Saturday. We made him a hockey cake.

These are all the fiends he had at his party.

They played road hockey for the first part of the party.

On Noah's real birthday (27th) he chose the restaurant...McDonalds...and we gave him his present. We got him a GameBoy. He has been asking for it for months and Rob kept telling him he didn't want to get it because he already had a gamecube and didn't need both. But we surprised him and got him the GameBoy. He was very excited!!! He played until he went to bed!
All in all a good 8th birthday was had!

He is 8 now!!

So...my baby is 8! I am having a hard time with this. My kids are growing up too fast. I am loving this stage they are in but I must admit I miss them being babies. They are definatley not babies anymore!!
At 1:24 this afternoon he will be an official 8 year old. He weighed 6 lbs, 8 oounces. He was 2 weeks early but showed no signs of being premature. He ate well and slept all the time. We were able to go home on the third day. Emily was totally in love with him (and still is...even though they fight constantly). Anyway...today he is still a little guy but with tons of energy...although he still loves to sleep!!
The pictures above were from last summer. We are having technical difficulty getting pictures off my camera. I will post some of his party and his gifts he gets today as soon as I can. I can't tell you what he is getting...but he will be excited!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH!! Mommy loves you very much!!

Good Food, Good Friends

We went over to our friends, Peter and Loretta's house for dinner last night. We had a great time. The meal was delicious! BBQ pork chops, yummy potatoes and carrotts and crepes for dessert. Well done Loretta!
It was nice to socialize and get our families together. The kids had a lot of fun with Taylor and Morgan!
Thanks guys for a great night!

I know I know!!

I know...it is useless tv...but I started watching a couple of seasons ago and I kinda like it. It is mindless and relaxing. I don't have to think and I can just sit and veg out on the couch. After a day with all the kids...I like doing this!!
Anyway...it starts tonight at 8:00. This season is an All-Star season. They are bringing back the best they said and America gets to vote who goes in the house. We'll see how it goes.

Carolina Wins

With a final score of 3-1, Carolina wins thier first ever Stanley Cup. We were disappointed. We really wanted a Candaian team to win. Well, if I am being honest...I really wanted Ottawa to be in the final and win but...sigh...maybe next year!!! Anyway...the hockey season is now over. Only 3 months and the madness will start again!

I am raising Monkeys

We decided in the heat yesterday to bike ride to the water park. It was really hot! Noah has recently learned how to climb poles. While we were at the water park they were climbing the poles on the sides of the swing set. They both go right to the top...hang there for a bit and then slide down. At one point Noah put his shirt back on because he got pole burn down his belly. He has a big blister on his foot too from climbing. He wanted to go on the monkey bars but he could not reach. Rob was sure he was going to call him over...he stood there...thought for a min...then climbed the pole up to the top and then did the monkey bars. Of course we didn't bring the camera...we never do. But it was a fun day.

4-0...Good job Edmonton. We have an excellent shot at bringing the cup back to Canada!!

Emily won!

Last night was the Merkel/Simpson award night at the church. The merkel award is for the YP band and the Simpson award is the singing company award...our group is called Shout. The awards are for kids that show improvement over the year...they have grown spiritually...they participate...mentor other kids that may be new or less experienced then themselves...things like that. Well, Emily won the Simpson Award this year. She was very excited and proud of herself. We were very proud of her as well. She had decided after last year being so disappointed when she didn't win, that she was going to try her very best this year to win. We have told her throughout the year that even if she didn't win, she would be proud that she had put in her best effort this year. Good job Emily!!

The weekend in general was a success. We woke Saturday morning and the rain had stopped!! God was listening! Although we should have asked for some sun as well. It was freezing. We went ahead with the car wash/yard sale/BBQ. It was cold. We were supposed to run it from 11-4 but we shut down at 2. The kids hands were freezing doing the car wash...and we were just plain cold!
The event was a success though. We aimed for $500.00 and we ended up raising over $1600.00. WOW!!!

We were very proud of our IN Step (beginners band)group as well. They played for the first time at the service last night. The rocked!! They played so well. We were very proud. For those of you that know my dad...he played for the first time last night in public. He did great. I am very proud Dad!!!

Rain

Why is it when you have something big planned...like a huge outdoor fundraiser at church...that it always rains????

It went well

Rob's work party last Friday was very interesting. Very artsy and modern. When we walked into the room we were greeted by belly dancers. This was the mingling room with cusions on the floor to sit on and belly dancers to watch while you talked. The other room had a live band. They were really good but it was so loud in there you could not talk at all. We spent most of out time in the hall between the 2 rooms so we could chat with others. They had a free bar for everyone...which was great for those who drank...but for us all they served was flavored water. They didn't have any pop or anything. They also had a sushi bar and tons of disgusting food they were passing around (I ate none of it!!). In all it was a good night. Of all there parties, this was a pretty good one. I have seen some really weird ones in the past.
The hotel they put us in was really nice. Very modern but not tacky. Nice King size bed which was very comfortable...except the fact that there was no top sheet. Just the fitted sheet and the duvet. Is this the common practice now in hotels?...we don't stay in them enough to know. It grossed Rob out and was going to complain until we found out everyone's bed was like that. It was nice to sleep in the next morning and we went out for breakfast. We ran into Steve, Matt, Barry and Rhonda at Cora's and had a really nice time.

This week has been the last week of practicing for all our church stuff. It will be really nice to take a break from running around in the evenings. We don't get to sit down and eat as a family most nights. I am looking forward to the break.
On Saturday we are having a yard sale/BBQ/car wash for a fund raisier for the kids who are going to music camp. It costs $195.00 this year and we are trying to help with the cost. On Sunday will be our final Youth night for the season. It will be the Merkel/Sipmson award night. I will let you know who the big winners are!

Have a great day

Thanks

Thanks for your prayers but my interview was postponed. The little girl woke up from her nap with a fever and was really cranky so her mom called and asked to reschedule. I will let you know when it is so you can pray again!

Funky

I am a little nervous about tonight. Rob's company...McMillan...is having thier 10th anniversary party tonight. They are inviting about 250 people from the community (and thier Vancouver office). I am not good in large crowds of people I don't know...especially drunk people (they are always drunk at work parties). I am not very good at small talk, so I don't let Rob leave my side! I also don't know what to wear. The theme of the party is "funky". Well, anyone who knows me knows I am far from funky!!
A good part though is they are putting all thier employees up in a hotel tonight. Mainly because they will all be drinking. I love staying in hotels...especially when someone else is paying!!

If you could say a quick prayer tomorrow. I have an interview for another child in my daycare. I lost one of my kids (not literally...her parents feel she can stay home alone now because she is 11) so I have a spot to fill. I am not desperate to fill it...we could survive without it but it would really help out if I could fill the spot.

Anyway...have a great weekend.
