Happy Birthday Hayden
One of my daycare children...Hayden...turns 4 today. I have had Hayden in my home since he was 11 months old. He feels like one of my own children. It is kinda sad that he is already 4 and will be ging to school in the fall. I told his mom that I will probably cry along with her on the first day of school!!
Anyway...Happy Birthday Hayden!!

Pink!
I went to a corps shower last night for Kim Savage (van Gulik) who is having a baby in May...if she can hold off that long! We had a lot of fun! There was at least 50 people there. Kim and Stephan know they are having a girl so every present but one was pink. This child is going to be in pink every day of her life...but she will be cute!!
We wish you all the best Kim and Stephan!!

Emily
So an update on Jockvale Idol. Emily got up to do her performance and got so nervous that she forgot all the actions that she practiced for 2 weeks. All she did was lip sing the words. So they did not give her a gold ticket. They said they would put her on the B list. We think that means if someone drops our for some reason she can then enter again.
We were very proud of her for trying her best!!!

Glad to be home
We had a very fun but busy Easter weekend at Rob's sister's house.
The weekend started on Thursday night with Rob and Noah going to the Senators vs. Panthers hockey game. Noah is a big Gary Roberts fan (thanks Steve!!) Not only did the Panthers win in overtime but Steve pulled some strings and got the boys into a room after where they got to meet Gary. Noah was in awe. After that they went outside and they got to meet some Senators...Patrick Eaves, Peter Schaefer, Antoine Vermette, and Anton Volchenkov. I was very jealous!!! They all signed Rob's hat and he gave it to me! Thanks Babe!
Friday we left for Toronto. We stopped at my brother Ian and lauren's house for a visit. We had never seen their apartment so it was nice to see where they are living. After a nice lunch out and some Easter presents...thanks mom and dad, we continued on to Listowel (after an quick stop in Guelph to drop off Lauren).
Saturday started great with a nice pedicure thanks to my mother in law. We had to get Kathy (rob's sister) out of the house so they could set up for her surprise party. She turns 40 next month but we had her party this weekend. They party went well and she was surprised!
Sunday we went to the church where Rob grew up. I had gone there for about a year as well so it was nice to catch up with a few people. The kids had an Easter egg hunt in the afternoon which they enjoyed. The highlight for my kids was the trampline they have in the backyard. Although Emily played a little too hard and put out her back. She was and still is in a lot of pain.
Rob and Noah both got nasty colds while we were there...and I am allergic to cats and dogs...they have both. So I spent the weekend sneezing!!
But...it was good to see family. I must admit that I really enjoyed my own bed last night!!

Jockvale Idol
Our kids school usually has a talent show every year. This year they have decided to do "Jockvale Idol" The kids can go alone or in groups. They can sing, dance or lip sing. Emily has decided to go it alone and lip sing a Carrie Underwood song..."Jesus take the wheel". She has been practicing for 2 weeks...which is quite cute to watch...remember she is not really singing. I am very proud of her for doing it alone. Alot of kids are in groups and alot of them have recieved gold tickets already. Her audition is tomorrow and I am very nervous for her. She has had a rough year and I worry that if she doesn't get in, there might be more teasing (I am a mother...what can I say, I worry about these things!).
Anyway...I will let you know how she does.

Weekend
We had a very nice but very busy weekend. I am finally realizing what my parents went through raising 2 children in The Salvation Army. There are always activities to get too!! Friday night was Marriage Enrichment bible study...which I have to say this week it did the opposite of enriching our marriage!
Saturday started with swimming lessons. Then we decided to tackle a few jobs around the house. I scrubbed bathrooms from top to bottom and Rob cleaned out the storage room that we could no longer enter without risking your life. We then had to cook the pork chops that had stared to defrost because I didn't notice that the freezer door had been left open for a day and a half...LOVELY!! After dinner the kids had to be at the church for 6:30 for a concert. The Great Lakes Divisional Youth Chorus..."One In Song" was here for the weekend and they invited our kids to sing once in the performance. They did amazing!! They are all so cute. After the concert Emily had her friend Baylie sleep over. They had fun...but they were up until 11:30...I was exhausted.
Then we were into Sunday and the usual routine. Add a birthday party in the afternoon and the day was shot. Oh well...they were happy and tired by the time bedtime came!!
Another weekend come and gone...why do the weekends go so fast??

LOST: 10
As Locke recovers from the incident with the blast doors, the situation with Henry heats up. Henry admits to Sayid that he is indeed an Other, but that he will be killed if he talks. So our group becomes jailors in effect, keeping watch over the prisoner of war.
Hurley and Libby's relationship also heats up when Libby takes it upon herself to try and get Hurley into shape. Hurley comes clean and confesses to Libby that he's "sick" -- that he has a problem with food -- and shows her that he's been hoarding food from the hatch.
Libby encourages Hurley to destroy it, but the moment he does, the pallet is discovered by the entire group, causing Hurley to have a breakdown...
In Flashback, Hurley's time spent in a mental institution is revealed. And as Hurley's addiction haunts him on the island, so does a friend from his past -- an
imaginary friend that didn't want him to get better. He encouraged hurley to eat and not take his pills. He came to the island and tried to get Hurley to jump off a cliff but Libby saved him and then they kissed!
Meanwhile, Eko continues building in the jungle and reveals to Charlie that he's constructing a church, enlisting his help.
And when Locke finally confronts Henry, Henry confesses that he did not push the button after he crawled through the vents during the lockdown -- but more interestingly, he reveals that NOTHING happened as a result. The world did NOT come to an end, a fact that John Locke is going to have a difficult time digesting…
At the end they went back to Hurley's past one more time and showed us that someone from the island was also at the sme hospital...Libby!
This show just keeps getting better

Update
I just realized while reading some of my past blogs that I forgot to update you on our decision to move to Toronto.
We have decided to stay here in Ottawa. There are many reasons but bottom line was it was not a good decision financially for our family. Rob's income was going to drop by $20,000 and I was going to lose my income totally (not knowing what I will find in Toronto right away). Plus the cost of living was that much more there. It would have been too hard to pay the bills. It was a tough choice for us...many sleepless nights!! But we feel that this is where we are supposed to be right now. Rob is ok staying in the job he has right now. They gave him a substantial raise when they found out he was looking elsewhere. They also gave him another weeks holidays and told him he has the chance to make management by the fall. So they are taking good care of him.
We are going to stay in the house where we are for awhile too and do some more renovations.
So...that is an update on the Gaus family!
